He married Norma Jo Wills of The Singing Wills Family. They have two married daughters, three grandsons and two granddaughters. She is Music Coordinator for the church, a heart-stirring soloist, and the church pianist. No one forgets her radiant smile after attending a service at Mountain States.

He has served as pastor for:

Emmanuel Baptist Church, Colorado Springs, Colorado; 1969–76

First Baptist Church of Hollywood, California; 1977–79

Mountain States Baptist Church, Denver, Colorado; 1979–present

Since 1979, Mountain States has been the sending church for 8 foreign missionary families. During that time, Mountain States has also been the sponsor of 12 new churches in Colorado.

He earned his degrees from:

Evangelical Theological Seminary (M.S. in Clinical Pastoral Counseling)
Louisiana Baptist University (Ph.D. in Psychology and Counseling)

He holds an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Baptist Bible College West, and he is an Honorary Alumnus of Baptist Bible College, Springfield, MO.
